Nokia Lumia 750 Has Pureview Technology, Lumia 720 Design Inspiration

Deviantart member DutaAV created a new Nokia concept, the Lumia 750, that’s inspired by the design of the Lumia 720. As you probably know, the Nokia Lumia 720 is some sort of a cheaper version of Lumia 920, that keeps some of its goodies.

Inspiration
Back to the Lumia 750, the device adopts a squared look and it comes with a camera centered at the back, a Pureview camera actually. The device is much less wider than the Lumias we’re used to. If you allow me to speculate and include some specs, I’d say that this smartphone comes with an IPS LCD display with a 4.3 inch diagonal and HD resolution, plus a dual core Snapdragon CPU, a slightly superior version to the one of the Lumia 720.

There’s also 8 GB of storage, 512 MB of RAM and a microSD card slot, plus an 8 megapixel Pureview camera instead of the 6.1 MP cam of the Lumia 720. The OS of choice may even be Windows Phone 8.1 Blue, since it’s coming in about two months. What do you think of these slight enhancements? Doable?

Nokia Lumia Dawn Features Touch Volume Buttons

From Mohammad Mahdi Azimi comes a new Nokia concept phone called Lumia Dawn. It’s pictured below and it’s based on a new concept: touch volume buttons. Recently I’ve heard that the LG Optimus G2 will be so thin that it will have the volume buttons on the back. Well, not it happens on the Nokia Lumia Dawn…
Nokia Lumia Dawn Features Touch Volume Buttons
As you can see, there are volume gradations on the back, in an area that you’ll surely touch. We’ve also heard that the Motorola X Phone is supposed to have a touch area at the back, maybe a button. It appears this is a fad that may quickly be adopted by major device makers. And with handsets becoming thinner and thinner, placing a button or two on the back may become necessary.
Nokia Lumia Dawn looks like a change in design direction compared to the usual Lumias and it kind of reminds me of the beautiful HTC HD7. That was a massive phone, but it was well built and had a solid feel to it.

Motorola Nexus X Phone Mockup in Bob Freking’s Vision (Video)

The clock is ticking and we’re getting closer to Google I/O 2013 and probably the next Nexus handset. Bob Freking proposes a fresh concept, the Motorola X Phone, that’s shown below and has specs close to the leaked/real ones.
Motorola Nexus X Phone Mockup in Bob Frekings Vision (Video)
This reminds me a lot of an older Nokia concept and I find it interesting that the entire smartphone seems embedded into a big slab of metal. The device features a 1.8 GHz quad core CPU, most likely a Snapdragon 800, 4 GB of RAM and a huge 5000 mAh battery, although something like 4000 mAh or 3500 mAh sounds more realistic.
The case of the Motorola Nexus X Phone is made of scratchproof stainless steel and at the back we’ve got a 9 megapixel camera with 18-55 mm lens. Upfront there’s a 5 inch 1080p Super AMOLED display and pricing for this model starts at $299 in the 8 GB version, according to Bob Freking. Would you buy this 2013 Nexus?

RPhone Design Adopts an Original Format, May Bring Back Pagers

Denny Rayell came up with a very original Windows Phone design, that looks more like an evolved pager than a smartphone. The result is the R Phone concept, where the “R” may as well stand for Rihanna, since she’s present on the screen.
RPhone Design Adopts an Original Format, May Bring Back Pagers
As you can see, the screen is focused on a landscape orientation and the device has a very small width. I’m not sure if you can also view the Windows Phone tiles in a vertical way, but it doesn’t appear that way. The Windows, Call and Search buttons are present at the bottom of the device, or better said to the side and it’s interesting to see them, since one of them should have been a Back button.
I can envision young people wearing this device on their belts, or hanging from their schoolbags, through an extra resilient magnesium case. Nokia would probably make it and market it toward the youngsters. Is there room on the market for a modern Windows Phone pager?

Samsung Galaxy Air: Concepts Don’t Have to be High End

We’ve had a few concept phones created by Deepak Ahuja on our website till now, but who said that concepts have to be smartphones? Even midrange or lower end units can become interesting mockups, just like the Samsung Galaxy Air shown below.
Samsung Galaxy Air: Concepts Dont Have to be High End
We’re dealing with a midrange to high end device, that runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean with the Samsung TouchWiz Nature UX on top. The screen here is a 4 inch Super AMOLED with a 720p resolution and inside we’ve got a quad core 1.3 GHz processor. At the back there’s an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and upfront a 1.3 megapixel camera with BSI.
Inside we also have 16/32GB of storage, 1 GB of RAM and the handset comes in marble white, majestic blue, garnet red and sapphire black. There’s even a price tag attached to it: $299. Overall, the design is a bit like the one of the Galaxy S4, but with a slightly changed lower front side.

Google X Phone Aka Nexus 5 is the Latest Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie Handset

Designed by Deviantart member 96design, the Google XPhone concept shown below is also dubbed the Nexus 5 and it comes with Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie. If everything goes well, we should see that OS in real life next month at Google I/O 2013.
Google X Phone Aka Nexus 5 is the Latest Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie
Handset
The X Phone packs a 4.8 inch Full HD display and runs on a 2 GHz quad core processor, probably of the Qualcomm kind. There’s also 2 GB of RAM on board, a 13 megapixel camera at the back and a 5 megapixel front camera. There’s a colored ring flash at the back, with the classic Google Nexus logo pattern and a very cool look.
There’s a colored notification LED in the bottom area and as you can see, the bezel at the front is very small. Actually 85% of the front side of this Nexus 5 is a screen. There are transparent objects in the interface, such as the navbar or status bar. The Android experience is totally minimal and this device is truly well done. What do you think?

Newest Nokia Concept Phone Lumia 1024 Comes From Australia

We’ve seen the Nokia Lumia 1020 just days ago and already we’ve got a very closely named model: Nokia Lumia 1024. This one is created by Australian designers at Chimo I-Design Studio and as you’ll see in the source link below, the project is so advanced that they made a physical mockup of the handset.
Newest Nokia Concept Phone Lumia 1024 Comes From Australia
Nokia Lumia 1024 seems to be a playful and youthful phone, one that runs Windows Phone obviously and seems to have an extra layer of case around it, so to say. The device’s profile seems really thin and the design is a bit pyramid-shaped, with a large base and profile getting thinner and thinner towards the top. That outer layer of plastic makes this look like a handset for young people and also the phone may be able to withstand water and shocks, but that’s only my speculation.
We’ve got a camera with flash at the back, most likely an 8 megapixel unit and maybe with (but probably without) Pureview technology. Nokia Lumia 1024 is slightly curved at the front and I’m guessing it has at least a dual core, if not quad core Snapdragon processor inside. Nokia has a good reputation of making colourful phones and this may end up being a new model…

Google Socio Concept Phone is Focused on Social Networking

Early this month HTC and Facebook launched a Facebook Phone and now we can already start dreaming of other social networking-focused handsets. Suman Chatterjee imagined a concept handset called Google Socio, one that integrates Google+, Twitter and Facebook at its core.
Google Socio Concept Phone is Focused on Social Networking
The phone comes with a Google UI that’s different from the default home application in the Nexus series. The Socio phone is made by Google and Motorola, supposedly and its purpose it to grab a slice of the social networking handset market. In order to access the app drawer, the user will have to pull down the clock and time widget bar downwards.
The smartphone packs a 4.9 inch display with Full HD resolution (IPS LCD) and other specs include a Snapdragon 600 quad core 2.1 GHz CPU, Adreno 320 GPU and a 2700 mAh battery. 3 GB of RAM are here, as well as up to 64 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. At the back of the Socio concept phone there’s a 13 megapixel camera with Full HD 30 fps video capture, while upfront there’s a 2.1 MP shooter. 4G LTE and Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie are also among the features, as well as wireless charging.
Another social networking phone out there?

Nokia Lumia 1020 Takes the Lumia 928 Design Further, Runs Windows Phone 8.5

With the Nokia Lumia 928 rumored to feature straight lines, a back speaker (instead of lower area) and maybe a metal case, it’s time to explore an even further generation of Lumias. Deepak Ahuja created the Nokia Lumia 1020, shown below, that’s meant as an evolution for the series.
Nokia Lumia 1020 Takes the Lumia 928 Design Further, Runs Windows
Phone 8.5
The handset runs Windows Phone 8.5 and relies on a 5 inch AMOLED display with a 1080p resolution. At the back we’ve got a 13.2 megapixel Pureview camera with dual LED flash and upfront we can find a 2 megapixel BSI sensor, while inside the Nokia Lumia 1020 we’ve got a 1.9 GHz quad core processor and a 2700 mAh battery.
Other features include 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and Purity (by Monster Audio) sound enhancement. This Nokia Lumia concept measures 141 grams in weight, certainly better than the 180+ grams of the Lumia 920. Are you ready for straight lines, or do you like curves more?

Sony Xperia UL Looks Small, is In Fact a 5 Inch Smartphone With 14 MP Camera

Ben Ling sent us yet another Sony Xperia concept phone, one packing a 5 inch Full HD display, but looking more like an Xperia Mini, if I take a quick glance at the renders. For some reason I feel that the diagonal should be smaller, maybe because of those big bezels.
Sony Xperia UL Looks Small, is In Fact a 5 Inch Smartphone With 14
MP Camera
The Sony Xperia UL, that’s the name of the concept, comes with a Super AMOLED display, which is rare for Sony, who relies on TFT or other technologies. There’s also Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, a 14 megapixel camera with HDR and LED flash, Exmor RS sensor for mobile and a case that’s both dust and water resistant.
The camera at the back does 16x zoom and Full HD video capture, while upfront there’s a 3 megapixel HDR camera with 1080p capture. Inside the handset there’s a quad core 1.8 GHz Krait 300 processor, of the Snapdragon 600 kind. Sony Xperia UL comes with PlayStation certification, a removable batery, 2 GB of RAM, 4G LTE, Android 4.2.2 and 32 GB of storage.
It uses a 2800 mAh battery, a microSD card slot and Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 3 technology. How about it? Does the handset also seem smaller to you?

[Thanks Ben Ling]

iPhone 6 Curved Wraparound Design by T3 is Magic (Video)

You’re probably aware of the Apple patent that was recently filed for a curved wraparound screen on a future handset, presumably the iPhone 6. Well, T3 took the story and turned into the beautiful concept iPhone shown below, plus the video at the end of the article.
iPhone 6 Curved Wraparound Design by T3 is Magic (Video)
Of course, Apple does have a huge amount of patents, so they may end up not using this one, but why not let our imagination run wild? A recent patent they filed details a wraparound AMOLED screen on a smartphone and a design that looks like the fourth generation iPod Nano. The patent says that the screen can be “unrolled” or “unfolded” thanks to a special hinge-like mechanism.
The documents include facial recognition, gesture control, layering of screens to create 3D effects, all of them very cool sounding technologies. The T3 iPhone 6 concept features a resolution of 1615 x 1800 pixels, a Facetime HD 2 megapixel camera at the front, NFC, lightning connector. In the video you can see gesture controls and virtual buttons on the side, plus a new multitasking system. FIFA sure looks great on the device, as do wraparound panoramas. Will this model ever become real?

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Supposedly Leaked, Has Straight Edges (Rendered Already)

Over the past hours we’ve been seeing a mystery Samsung device get pictured in a shot circulating on the web. After Yugatech got hold of the image, they turned it into the render you can see below. The original image can be seen at the end of the article…
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Supposedly Leaked, Has Straight Edges
(Rendered Already)
Speculations say this may well be the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, although I kind of doubt it. For one thing, it’s too bulky and also it’s not wide enough. If we judge by the past years’ Samsung releases, the Note is always a bigger version of the current generation of Galaxy S model, so I expect the Note 3 to be a bigger Galaxy S4.
It would be about time for Samsung to change that pebble design to something else, of course. I find this new design direction to be hugely similar to the one of the Nokia Lumias, but at least something’s changed. We haven’t gotten rid of the Home button, that’s even more highlighted now, if we judge by these shots. Could Samsung be preparing a rectangular edge Galaxy Note 3?
